3.3 Amidah - 3.3.1 Minimum Prayer
- In accordance with the Didache's teaching that the Lord's Prayer is to be prayed three times a day, and Yeshua's teaching on the matter is within the context of "when" you pray, then it this also implies that the Didache teaches there is a minimum requirement to pray the Amidah three times a day: once during Shacharit, once during Minchah, and once during Maariv. In accordance with Jewish tradition, the prayer is inserted after the last benediction of the Amidah, immediately after "May the expressions..." since it is customary to insert the prayer of one's rabbi there.
- 3.3.2 Birkat HaMinim - The Curse on the Heretics
- It is the majority opinion of Messianic believers today that the 12th benediction of the Amidah, inserted after the rise of Messianic Judaism in the 1st Century, also known as the Curse On the Heretics, and was not in the original Amidah during the time of Yeshua, is not to be prayed at all. Yeshua said to love our enemies and pray for them, not curse them. (Matt 5:43-44) Others hold to a growing minority opinion based on what is defined as a "heretic" and have expressed the position that once one understands the intent of the benediction as a means to protecting the community of Israel, and its overall application, that it can be prayed with kavanah.
